  Children's Mentor

  We , at Westborough, are in the process of training up a Children's Mentor. This job role will fit in well with our emphasis on social and emotional wellbeing and the importance that we place on listening to the voice of the child. The key role of the Mentor will be:-

   

  • To work with staff, external professionals, parents and carers plus the child to identify and understand the internal barriers to learning that he or she has.
  • To help the child overcome their barriers and make progress in order to prepare them for future life.
  • To be focused on the child.
  • To coach and mentor the child to achieve to their best potential.
  • To recognise when to get professionals involved.
  • To act as an advocate for the child.
  • To plan and deliver individual and group interventions.

   

  We will let you know when our mentor is fully qualified.

• Elkan qualification plaque

  During the summer we have received our 'Communication Friendly Setting' award from Elklan. This is a standard that we can now keep for three years until 2023. Our whole staff team have worked hard completing training sessions on communication and language in the Early Years over the course of a year and are now dedicated to providing an excellent space for all our children to become competent and confident communicators!

• Communication Friendly Status

  We are pleased to announce that Westborough Preschool and the whole staff team can now use the kitemark 'Communication Friendly'! We have spent a year upskilling our team on strategies to improve the communication and language skills of our children and after a successful audit in November we have now qualified for 'Communication Friendly Status'. 

  We are looking forward to continuing the implementation of our communication and language strategies and are now working towards a whole team level 3 qualification in sign language to compliment our learning.
